In the summer of 2001, only a few months before succumbing to cancer, Grayson was driving his convertible (he only drove convertibles, all the way back to when he first turned 16) on I-695, when the engine seized. He scaled a fence and hoofed it all the way back home to an angry Dotsie, who gave him an ultimatum – get a cell phone or get a new car. Two days later, Grayson purchased a shiny new Volvo convertible. Rather than transition to the always-on world of a cell phone, Grayson chose to maintain his simple, less hectic existence.

While there are dozens of charitable golf events every season, the Grayson Boyce Day of Games focuses on taking us back to a simpler, more pleasurable life and times. An era of three martini lunches, playing hookie for a round of golf followed by a visit to Pimlico, and staying up late with the boys to gamble on games you’ve always loved to play, but rarely get a chance to.

The Grayson Boyce Day of Games is a throwback to the Friday’s of old, when schedules weren’t so packed and everyone didn’t have to know where you were at all times. It’s a time to honor a man, who played more than a hundred rounds of golf a season and cards every day of the year but Christmas. A man that many people will tell you “figured it out”.

We hope you will clear your calendar on May 15th and join us for a day of drinking, golf and gambling to enjoy a taste of what life used to be.
